I'm sorry. [ that grin is anything but apologetic. she doesn't even bother to move her hand away and even moves it a little lower, tracing patterns onto his skin. ]

[ The word's almost a growl until he remembers that there's no earthly reason for him to be holding himself back, his hands starting to move on her in loving retaliation. See how much she likes having fingers running along her thigh. ]

[ there's a pleasurable hum when she feels warm fingers on her skin and she leans forward to kiss him, just as she slides her hand down along his flesh. ]

I don't mind taking the blame this time.

[ He kisses her back, pulling her a little bit closer. Yeah, he's definitely responding to what she's doing. ]

[ His early observation just seems so spot on that he feels the need to repeat it out loud (still not objecting at all): ]

[ oh, hello there. so maybe teasing Jori wasn't just because she was she was trying to be mean; it's clearly affecting her too. that heat in her stomach is there again and she wants him just as much, if not more, than earlier. ]

Yeah? [ and that would be her fingers running up and down smooth and hardened skin. ]

Maybe I've gotten more comfortable around you now.

[ Arceus. He draws his fingers back up the inside of her thigh, as slow as he can make himself go. His apparently casualness is belied by the way his arm is tightening around her, and he hopes that his voice isn't quite so breathless as he feels. ]

Meaning you weren't before. Why?

[ it's hard to think when his fingers are distracting her like that. she looks away for a moment and her hand stills, settling on his leg instead. she shrugs. ]

I guess I was a little nervous. I mean, you hear stuff about it all the time from people, but it's different when you're the one doing it. I didn't really know what to expect and you said you've done it before, so... I didn't want to disappoint.

[ that last part comes out a little quieter. in the end, she still doesn't want to lose. ]

[ He stops as well, genuinely interested in the answer. (Well, he wouldn't have asked if he wasn't.) When she finishes he ducks down, brushing his lips across her forehead. ]

You didn't. You couldn't have.

Once doesn't make me an expert, especially 'cause...

[ This was a lot different, in a lot of ways he's not sure he can express. ]

[ the kiss makes her feel a little better but: ]

'Cause what?

[ He considers for a second, then sighs softly. ]

...I think, if I'm going to explain it, you'll have to know a bit about the other time. Do you even want to know about it?

... Do you want me to know about it?

[ it's not said in her usual biting tone, but she's sincere about it. it was between him and this other person; while Tia usually doesn't give two fucks, after experiencing it herself she realizes that, hey, this is actually kind of a private and intimate thing. she wouldn't blame him if he wanted to keep it to himself. ]

[ He's torn between wanting Tia to understand and wanting to be fair to Kris. He's not usually the type to kiss and tell (minus any young bull misinterpretations) and in the end he decides to try and tread the line, erring on the side of caution. He's figuring this out as he goes along, talking out loud and sort of seeing what feels right, and it's full of little pauses and quiet hesitations. ]

It happened 'cause I was leaving. The first time, that is. So any consequences... didn't really matter, because we'd be so far apart and see each other so rarely. So it was sorta like... putting a capstone on us. Giving us no regrets if we looked back later. We were letting go.

[ That feels right, and he pauses for a longer time, letting it linger. ] As weird as it sounds, we were letting go. We both knew it wasn't going to last, that it wasn't going to work. So sleeping together... was sorta like saying "Here's what could've been, so let's move on without doubt."

[ Then his gaze sharpens as he pulls his head out of the clouds and meets Tia's eyes. ]

I am not letting you go.

[ she doesn't try to rush him through his pauses, letting him take his time to pick his words. she doesn't immediately respond when he's done, eyes focused on his sheets as she takes it all in. ]

... I think I get it. But wouldn't it have made you worry that it'd be harder to leave afterwards?

[ he is too good at saying stuff that make her all warm and fuzzy inside. ]

Didn't think you were.

It... probably could've happened like that. Maybe we got lucky. ...Though it's hard to get overly romantic when you've got hay sticking to you.
